Payments, Fees & Payouts
CAD payments, release fees, suspension-related holds and dispute resolution.
Payment model and fees
Prices and platform release fees described here are in Canadian dollars. Buyer payments are collected through the platform-controlled Stripe Connect model, and seller amounts are transferred to connected Stripe accounts. A transfer to a Stripe account is not a payout to a bank: Stripe’s separate availability, verification and bank-payout rules still apply.
Stripe processing, Connect, currency-conversion, dispute or other applicable charges are separate from the platform release fee. This policy does not promise that Stripe services are free or automatically deduct an unimplemented seller processing fee. Any additional platform commission or seller fee must be clearly disclosed before it applies.
Scheduled releases — when enabled
The scheduled-release system is staged behind a feature flag and is not active merely because you accept this policy. Until enabled for eligible new orders, the existing transfer flow remains in use. Older orders are not automatically converted to the new schedule. The seller earnings screen identifies the applicable mode.
When enabled, scheduled runs are on the 1st and 15th of each month, using America/Edmonton time. Eligible held balances strictly greater than $40 are released without the $2.50 platform release fee. Balances of $40 or less carry forward unless you request an available paid release or they reach the age-based release rule. Pending, failed, disputed or otherwise ineligible transactions may delay a release. Suspension-related holds apply to both scheduled releases and the existing transfer flow, as described below.
Optional small-balance release
When enabled, a seller with an eligible held balance above $2.50 and at most $40 may request an early release. A $2.50 platform fee is deducted from that release; the remainder is transferred to the connected account. The confirmation screen must show the gross amount, fee and net amount before you submit. The fee is per release batch, not per item.
Age-based release and outstanding fees
The platform aims to release eligible older funds on the last scheduled run before its 90-day age limit, with a safety buffer; this is the platform’s operational rule, not a claim that every Stripe account can legally hold funds for 90 days. Stripe restrictions, legal requirements and failed transfers can require earlier action or affect completion.
For an age-based release of $40 or less, a $2.50 fee is deducted if the balance is at least $2.50. At exactly $2.50, the fee uses the full balance and no net transfer remains. Above $40, no platform release fee applies.
If an age-based release is less than $2.50, the whole eligible balance is released with no deduction and a $2.50 fee becomes outstanding on the seller account. New sales are paused until it is paid using the Pay fee button and Stripe Checkout. Existing orders and earnings remain accessible. There is no automatic charge to a saved payment method under this rule.
Suspension-related holds and use of funds
Three active strikes trigger a hold on new transfers of the seller’s funds still held by the platform. Admins may also apply a hold for investigation or unresolved payment obligations. While the hold is active, those funds are not available for normal, optional early or age-based releases. This does not freeze the seller’s bank account or money already transferred to a connected Stripe account, and a transfer already in flight may complete.
To the extent permitted by applicable law and Stripe agreements, you authorize LocalyCo to withhold platform-held proceeds while investigating and resolving reasonable exposure arising from your orders, and to apply those proceeds to customer refunds, returns or cancellations requiring repayment, chargebacks, payment disputes and related Stripe charges or other already-disclosed fees lawfully owed by you. Amounts applied reduce the balance otherwise payable to you; the same obligation must not be recovered twice. Suspension alone does not entitle LocalyCo to keep your earnings as a penalty or apply them to another seller’s obligations.
We will explain the hold and amounts applied or provide the relevant transaction records, except where disclosure is legally restricted. Holds must be reviewed against actual or reasonably anticipated obligations and applicable deadlines, not used to keep funds indefinitely. Once those obligations are resolved or adequately provided for, any remaining eligible balance is considered for release with separate admin approval and normal payment eligibility checks. Restoring selling or removing a strike does not itself authorize release.
Applicable law and Stripe requirements take precedence over a moderation hold. The platform’s 90-day age rule is an operational review deadline, not permission to hold funds for 90 days in every case or beyond a permitted limit. A nearing deadline requires admin review and a lawful resolution; the worker does not automatically override the hold. No specific release date is guaranteed. These terms authorize supported refund and dispute handling, not an automatic refund of every suspended seller’s orders; payment reconciliation is currently handled manually through supported payment workflows.
Refunds, disputes and tax
Refunds, reversals, disputes and Stripe restrictions may reduce eligible balances or require recovery of amounts already released, as permitted by law and the applicable Stripe agreements. Any fee treatment must be disclosed in the relevant transaction or resolution; this policy does not invent a new automatic refund penalty.
You are responsible for determining your registration, reporting and remittance obligations, including applicable GST/HST and provincial taxes. Collecting or displaying a tax amount does not by itself establish who legally remits it. Keep transaction records and obtain appropriate tax advice.
